Init.d command not found

Could you elaborate. I'm not too familiar with the init.d stuff with android right now. So how would I call these scripts at startup? I can't tell where in other roms these google android has a great article on the commands for their init.rc file but i cant seem to find it at the moment ... will post back if i get it.
